Part 1. Register UkeySoft Screen Recorder

Step 1. Download and Install UkeySoft Screen Recorder

Click on the download button below to download UkeySoft Screen Recorder program on Mac computer. Then follow the instruction to install and run the program on your computer with ease.

Step 2. Register UkeySoft Screen Recorder

After installing the program successfully, please double click the App icon to launch it.

After launching UkeySoft Screen Recorder on Mac, you will get below main interface. There are five main features: Full Screen Recording, Custom Area Recording, App Windows Recording, Webcam Recording and Audio Recording.

UkeySoft Screen Recorder offers the free trial for users to experience the full features, you can try to record any video with the trial version, but there is a watermark in the exported video file and also has some limitations. If you want to get recorded video without limits, you need to buy a license code and activate the software.

When you launch UkeySoft Screen Recorder under free trial, the registration window would pop up automatically to ask you to register the App. For users who haven't purchased a license code, click the "Buy Now" icon and you will be navigated to the purchasing page. Please buy a license code, you will get the license code on your email instantly after purchasing successfully.

Please copy your license code into the Activation box and enter your email, then click on the “Register” button. Part 2. How to Record Full Screen on Mac

Step 1. Select Full Screen Mode

There are five main recording mode in the home page for selection, including Full Screen, Custom Area, App Window, Camera, Audio Only. To record full screen area, you should click the left one “Full Screen” option.

Step 2. Select Audio Input

Click the sound icon to choose whether to record system sound, microphone, both, or no sound at all. Moreover, sound volume can be adjusted through the sound menu’s last settings option.

Tips:

If you want to record a video with computer sound only, or recording music, please just select “System Audio”;
If you just want to record a video with your voice only, please select “Microphone” input.
If you want to record screen with system sound and your voice, please select both “System Audio” and “Microphone” input.
To capture Mac screen without any sound, please select “None” option.

Step 3. Record Full Screen on Mac

After setting audio input option, click the right red "REC" button to begin recording full screen on Mac.

The program will automatically display the "4-3-2-1" recording countdown status

Step 4. Pause Recording or Stop Recording

You could click the red “Pause” button to interrupt the recording, or click the “End” record button to end the recording at anytime. You can also use the default hotkey (F9) to end the recording.

Note: There is a timer showing the recording time.

Step 4. View the Recorded File

Once the recording is completed, the recorded file will save in the history list in the menu bar (three horizontal). You can play your recorded video or audio, even delete it if you are not satisfied with it. If you want to edit your recorded video on Mac, we suggest you use iMovie for Mac.

Part 3. How to Record Any Special Area on Mac

Step 1. Select Custom Area Recording Mode

To record the Mac full screen, just click the first function to set the Full Screen recording mode. If you want to capture some area you want only, please click “Custom Area” option and custom any recording area you want.

Step 2. Adjust Input Audio and Set Output Quality

You will enter the output setting for recording custom area on Mac. Click the sound icon to choose whether to record system sound, microphone, both, or no sound at all. In addition, you can also set the output quality before recording.

Step 3. Customize the Recording Area

Click on the "Record" icon, you can choose "Fixed region" from the given options or select the region by dragging the rim of the frame manually. Usually, the selection of the recording area depends on what you're going to record.

Tips: It will show you the size of the capture custom area on screen, and you can adjust the capture area by dragging and dropping it.

Step 5. Start Recording the Customize Area in Real Time

After customizing the recording area you want, just clicking the icon in the lower right corner of the custom area to start recording.

Tips: When recording the computer screen, you are allowed to use the toolbar, including drawing, annotating, and taking snapshots as you like.

Step 6. Pause or End Recording

You could click the red “Pause” record button to suspend the recording, or click the red “End” record button to end the recording at anytime.

Step 7. Edit & Play the Recorded Video Files

After you click on the "End" button, the recorded video will be save onto the Mac automatically, you can view the recorded history list.

Click menu bar (three horizontal) on the bottom left, it will present all recorded files for you, here you could play the recorded video file with Quicktime player, you can also edit your recorded video files with iMovie.

Part 4. How to Record Audio on Mac (System Audio & Microphone Voice)

Step 1. Select Audio Recording Mode

To record audio on Mac, please click "Audio Only" feature on the main interface when the program is launched.

Step 2. Select Input Audio Settings

There are 4 option for adjust input sound, including “System Audio”, “Micphone”, “System & Mic”, “None”. Before recording audio, you need to adjust the appropriate system sound to record computer audio.

1) If you just want to record audio on Mac, or recording music playing or podcast on your computer or whatever audio is on your computer, please select “System Audio” only. For example, to record YouTube music, iTunes music, Spotify music, etc.

2) If you just want to record your voice with microphone, please select “Micphone” only.

3) If you want to record computer sound and your voice as narration, please select “System & Micphone” option.

4) If you want to record a video without any voice, please select “None” option.

Step 3. Select Output Audio Format

To set the output audio format, please click the “Setting” icon, the program will pop up a windows.

Here you could select which audio format (MP3, WAV or M4A) to your desire.

Step 4. Start Recording Audio/Music on Mac

For example, to recording music with UkeySoft Audio Recorder, please playing a song on Mac with any music player, at the same time click the left right “REC” button to begin recording music in high audio quality.

You could click the red “Pause” record button to interrupt the audio recording, or click the red “End” record button to end the recording at anytime.

Step 5. View and Play the Recorded Audio File

When you end the audio recording, the recorded audio files are save onto the computer. Click menu bar (three horizontal) on the bottom left, it will present all recorded audio files for you.

Now, you can play the recorded audio or music with Quicktime player, you can also use iMovie to edit them.

Part 5. How to Record App Window on Mac

Step 1. Select App Window Mode

To record app window on Mac, you should click the three option “App Window”.

Step 2. Adjust Input Audio Settings

There are 4 option for adjust input sound, including “System Audio”, “Micphone”, “System & Mic”, “None”.

1# If you want to record App windows with system sound only, please select “System Audio” only. For example, you just want to create a video for introducing how to use the App/software without any outside voice.

2# If you want to record a App windows with your your voice only, please select “Micphone”.

3# If you want to a App windows with computer BGM music and your voice as narration, please select “System & Micphone” option.

4# If you want to record App windows without any sound, please select “None” option.

Step 3. Select Output Quality

Here you could choose output quality as “Original Quality”, “HD Quality” and “SD Quality”, choose anyone depend on your need.

Do More Setting for Recording App Window

Click the Gear icon to do more setting for recording app window. Like “video format” in General, Mouse, Shortcuts, Watermark, Camera, and Sound.

Step 4. Capture App Window Area to Record

When all the settings are done, open the app you want to record, the program will capture the app windows automatically, you can also adjust size of the capture area on screen.

Step 5. Record App Window

Click the red “REC” button to begin to record app window after countdown 3-2-1.

You could click the red pause record button to interrupt the recording, or click the red end record button to end the recording at anytime. It will show you the recording time with green number.

Step 6. Get App Window Recording

When you finish the app window recording, the recorded file will be save in the history list. Click menu bar (three horizontal) on the bottom left, it will present all recorded files for you, you can play the recorded video with Quicktime player.

Part 6. How to Record Webcam on Mac

Step 1. Select Camera Mode

To record webcam video on Mac, please click “Camera” function.

Step 2. Set System Audio and Micphone Input

To record camera video on Mac, you can turn on/off “System Audio” or “ Micphone”.

If you want to record webcam with your voice, please turn on Micphone option.

Step 3. Start Recording Webcam in Real Time

When all is ready, just click the red “REC” button to start to record camera video on Mac.

Tips: During recording the webcam video, you can make drawing or add annotations to the video according to your situation. You can add rectangle, ellipse, line, arrow, brush, air brush, text and callout to stand out something important.

In addition, you are able to take snapshot to save the frame or emphasize to your audience later.

You could click the red “Pause” record button to suspend the recording, or click the red “End” record button to end the webcam recording.

Step 4. Get the Recorded Webcam Video

When you complete the camera video recording, the recorded file will be save in the history list. Click menu bar (three horizontal) on the bottom left, it will present all recorded files for you, here you could check the camera video recording file.

Part 7. More Set Preferences

This part helps you quickly learn how to use the basic settings of UkeySoft Screen Recorder.

Detail Settings for Recorded File

Click “Gear” icon on the bottom left, you will enter the detail settings windows. Here you can do more settings for output file. There 6 main functions including General, Mouse, Shortcuts, Watermark, Camera, and Sound.

Output Video Format: In General function, you could set video format, video quality, and video framerate. To meet various demands, the program presets multiple format and codec options. Output formats for video include MOV, MP4, M4V, FLV and AVI.

Mouse Display Setting: In Mouse function, you could tap on/off in Show cursor, Highlight clicks, Add click effect, Show Countdown before recording.

Shortcuts: Here, you can set the shortcut keys of Start/Stop Recording, Pause/Resume Recording, On/Off Webcam and Screenshot.

Watermark: There are three options in Watermark function, including Text watermark, Image watermark, and None. Just select one as you like.

Camera: You are allowed to tap on Webcam Mirror option in Camera function.

Sound: You can customize the time and the size for recording file.
